Poorman's ITR???
First of all, hello, IM new here, 95civic hb vx, stock. Was thinking of making an CTR out of it. Was reading Honda Tuning Mag, read about making a poorman's ITR. B18 block with ITR pistons and B16 head. They said block was idential, and the ITR head and B16 head shared same casting. Is that right?? Does that mean that the ITR is a B18/B16 hybrid?? Not sure what year ITR the mag was talking about, so I was confused. Anyone know?? It was in the Feb 2006 mag. Thanks
The block is a B18C. The ITR and GSR share the same block. The ITR uses a different block brace. You can look at part numbers and diagrams for the ITR and GSR here:

The ITR head shares the casting with the B16 as both are stamped PR3. The ITR head is a hand selected casting (minimal core shift), has a better valve train, and has porting at the valve seats.
BTW: the CTR used the B16B engine not the B18C5.

Thanks for the infor. So ITR is B18 block and B16 head, but obviously more refined. Cool, thanks for the heads up on the CTR. I'll check out that website you mentioned.
Remember that there are more than one B18 block. The VTEC block is the B18C#. There is also the B18A and B18B, which were not designed for the VTEC head, but they can be converted to a LS/VTEC. Many people will argue that the LS/VTEC has more torque due to a slightly higher displacement. In reality, they are simply cheaper than the B18C blocks and were not designed for high RPM operation.
