Can I pass emmisions with OBD1 ECU

Re: Can I pass emmisions with OBD1 ECU (kitchale)
it all depends. if all is hooked up well and running right I am sure the emmissions #'s will pass but as for visual that is all dependant on where you live and what laws are in place in your area.

Oh okay I C. Because I tried it last week and righ b-4 I came there I reset my ECU that's prolly why it wasn't reading my OBD.
I live in Georgia and I have a 97 Civic with GSR swap. Emmisions is sooo easy ova
here. The guy didn't even pop my hood or stick anything it the tail pipe.
He just wanted to read the OBD.
thanks.

usually an obd2 car will require an obd2 ecu for the obd2 scantool to read the ecu. here in texas, in th counties that have emissions, 96+ cars jsut need to be plugged into and scanned to make sure everything is working. if you swap to an obd1 ecu you cannot get the sensor readigns needed to pass emissions....

100% incorrect, there is no sniffer, there is no visual because all of those things are monitored by OBDII sensors.
OBDII is tested by plugging into the scan port and reading codes also tested systems. you cannot run a OBDI ecu to pass an OBDII emission test. period.

in cali we still use the sniffer even on OBD2 cars. it is used in conjunction with the dyno. you are correct about the OBD2 portion of the way they scan codes they can read some of them but not all since he does not have a OBD2 ecu.

Here in Chicago, I went obd2 to obd1, and I went to get it checked and I failed the first time, because of the plug and play to check your car did not work. They had to run the old fashioned test. Once they did that, I passed. Lucky for me, the person that was there knew what they were doing.

Re: (VietboyJDM)
you wont pass if you have the obd2 connecter going to the obd1 comp......been through it about 5 times now lol...you have to show them receipts for your engine proving that it is older than 1996
