build a motor
Don't yell at me too bad, signed on to a buddy's account so I can get some questions answered. I want to mildly build a motor for boost, I really want to go with B20/VTEC. I've heard that the cylinder walls are too thin for boost and I don't want to spend all the money to sleeve them. So I guess my question would be what would be some other options to get a B20 in good shape for turbo application? Another thing that I don't understand is the wiring. The vehicle is a 93 Si, so OBD1 but the B20 would be a OBD2. My buddy says its just the block and not to worry. I kind of like knowing what is going on and since its my first build I would like to know how to do things. Thanks for any help and hopefully Ill be able to learn.

Re: build a motor (Pure Sol)
If you don't want to sleeve the block, then you could have the cylinders posted. It's a process of drilling through the side of the block & installing threaded studs that press aginst the cylinders inside the water jackets & keep them from walking. They are sealed with epoxy to keep them from leaking. I've seen this used on B20 VTEC motors that were built for high rpm, so I don't know how well this would work for a boosted motor...

Well sort of. The problem with block guards is that they don't really fit perfectly & can cause more stress than they prevent. I have no personal experience with this stuff, so all I know is that Larry at Endyn Racing Engines says block guards are a no-no, and uses posting on his personal B20-VTEC (article)...
