Should I sleeve a B20 VTEC made for boost?
I just bought a B20z Block and i own a few B20 VTEC engines in the past and I loved it. But this time around I wanted to boost it instead of all motor. My goal this time is to boost 25-30 psi. So I was wondering if its a good idea if i should sleeve the B20z block or save my money and just sleeve a B18c1 instead? I have read a few post in the past about sleeving a b20 can be a 50/50 propostion. Darton won't even MID sleeve b20's anymore. Out of three people I know with them, two have experienced sunken sleeves. So the question is should I sleeve the B20 block or just save up and get a B18c1 and just sleeve that instead. Benson down in Southern California said that I should just sleeve the B18c1 instead. Can anyone give me their input?

running that much boost on a b20 most definately should be sleeved. I have only seen a couple gsr's run that much boost unsleeved and last for much of any time. B20's have the thinnest cylinder walls of all the B series blocks and are notorious for throwing a rod through the wall.

yes i know sleeving is the way to go when it comes to boosting at such a high amount of psi. but my question is, is it a good idea to sleeve a B20 or should I just sleeve a GSR block instead. I have heard some horror stories with sunken sleeves with B20 blocks.

I guess my real question is what is a better option for me. As a daily driven/weekend track car. I want reliability and I heard B20 doesnt do very well with being sleeve, but then again does it depend on whos sleeving the block?

sleeve a gsr to 85mm and boost!!! by far better option dont deal with the vtec conversion **** if ur boosting not necessary.

I think personally I would go with the GSR block.
It has oil squirters to cool the pistons, better R/S ratio and you are going to see fairly fast speeds with 25-30 psi.

Most people run a B18C1 engine when making big power for a reason. The engines are stronger and hold up better.
If you were going NA or say a Supercharged B20 with lower boost then I would say go for it. But, since you stated that you are looking to run 25-30psi, I think you would be better off using a GSR engine.

i didnt say dont use a vtec head... i said dont use a sleeved b20 block over a gsr pointless... boosted gsr > boosted b20vtec just grab a gsr motor and sleeve it...

Re: Should I sleeve a B20 VTEC made for boost?
i dont see why not, a sleeved B20 can handle boost 30-40 psi as in any other blocks other there thats been sleeved. LaskyRacing even told me it can hold boost up to 50 psi. It has a bigger displacement, as the GSR has smaller displacement. So i dont get why B20 cant be an option for me because I want to start with a bigger bore engine.

Boosted or not, the B20 has a bigger stock displacement than the GSR motor... 1.8 sleeved = 2.0 sleeved??
The B20 is gonna give you the TRQ, and depending on the trim turbo you'll use, that torque could come in handy when your trading bottom end for top end gain.
---Just my opinion
