Best motor swap

Re: Best motor swap (CodeDawg)
About 4 grant will get you a GSR swap, and you'll have, I dunno 160-170 to the wheels?
Might be able to swing an LS swap for about 2 grand, 140 to the wheels?
Or you could bolt a turbo kit on, save yourself some hassle, and still probably be 160-170hp with proper fuel managment. <2 grand.

you wont have a problem with any honda swap to make it not street driveable
they are just stock honda engines, not race engines.

B16B (civic type-r) , B18C1 (gsr), B18C5 (integra type-r)
Depends on how much you wanna spend. I think they are all pretty straight forward swaps. just a bolt in with some wiring changes.

my vote goes to the h series if have the money. if your on a budget and not very patient - like most of us, you could always do an ls. be happy with it for now, then turbo it later on.

Not exactly. GSR swap = about 145whp stock - $3-4000
LS swap = about 125whp stock - $1500-2000
B16 swap = about 135whp stock - $2000-2500
SOHC w/greddy kit, stock everything w/blue box@ 7 psi = about 165-170whp - $1000 total! (in my case)
Boost the SOHC
BTW, it's just as reliable as when it was stock.

Re: Best motor swap (boostincoupe)
the motor you get will all depend on the money and time you have to spend. looking for a boost and don't want to drop the green then you should go a a jdm b16. It will also be an easy swap into your 2000 ex. since vtec is already wired.

Re: Best motor swap (CodeDawg)
I would go with the ITR swap because it has nice baseline for horsepower and you can upgrade pretty cheap because the type R stuff on e-bay is as good as gold on there if you wanted to sell you stock parts

Re: Best motor swap (John O)
ITR if you want a super high revving factory-built power house. These aren't cheap (4,000-4,500) and I'd only take this route if you don't plan to boost. I know the ITR people are going to say "You can boost an ITR like any other motor!" Well yes you can but....
GSR if you want great power and close to the performance of the ITR. Again these aren't cheap (3,000-3,500), a little less than the ITR though. This is the general swap of choice considering you can boost or build for better N/A power easier since the compression is slightly lower yet on the high side still.
H22 if you want torque which most people do. The price of these are quite lower than the ITR and GSR (about 2,000) mainly since they aren't a direct bolt-in for the Civic and Integra. Along with that comes the need for a mount kit and some mods to get everything right, but the overall outcome should be well worth it.
B16A if you are on a budget and want to rev the **** out of it to see the power which is there but up up up there Below 5K or so it wont feel much different from your stock EX other than the better gearing. The prices are fairly reasonable (2,000-$2,500) and are easily obtainable. These flow well and like boost so you've got room to play around.

Re: (CodeDawg)
for sure go with the H22,your car is somewhat heavy, and you want torque to get it going. B series is great to start with if you have a light car like a hatch, but stock b series Vs. stock H series in a coupe is not a hard choice. The swap is not hard at all. I have owned both and H is my choice by far!
