Default bad synchros

I think my synchros are bad it grinds in 4th and 5th gear if i really push on it but does not grind when driving it easy.. Some say it might be my clutch but it still grabs okay. i'm changing my clutch to exedy this weekend but can anyone tell me how i can check my synchros? whats involved in changing out synchros? or should i buy a new transmission to save some headache?

mine does the samething, grinds from 1-2 and 2-3 at higher rpms, i have to let it drop low and shift to get no grinds. really sucks, was told it's the synchros, thinking i might rebuild the tranny myself, or maybe just get it done by someone else. was told $450 for everything including a warranty.

get a helms manual. i just got a couple. but if you've never opened a tranny, then you can benefit greatly from this. very in depth and detailed. hope you find one. trannies aren't that hard to work on...sorta intimidating but you just have to dive into them and have the right tools. syncros are easy to swap out.

Welcome to the club...

My third gear syncro is messed up. I might tear apart one of these days and change it. If you replace your clutch, you might as well get the work done on your tranny as well...

I'd recommend changing your tranny fluid and run Honda MTF. If it still grinds then I would replace the synchros.

i was a believer in honda MTF until i read this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=549469
people are saying in there that they use honda MTF and still have grinds but when they switch to the GM stuff, the grinds usually disappear. maybe give that a try...its about the easiest fix if it works for your situation.
