B20b with a B16a1 head?
Hi before I get flamed I did read through all the posts I got from a search but didn’t really get the info I needed.
I live in the England & over here a B20 VTEC just doesn’t get done by any garages so my only choice is hand over an open cheque (Im not made of money) or DIY it.
I can get a complete JDM B20b & a B16a1 head at a good price, what I want to know is what’s the least I need to do get it running I.E. Using as many stock parts from what I have (B20b & B16a head) & what will I need to add? One thing I don’t want to do is machine the OEM B20 pistons for valve clearance as I don’t like the idea of that so will the OEM piston be ok or will I need a new set? I know about the dowels, oil feed, oil pump & I kinda understand that part now thanx to the info on C-Speedracing.
Also what sort of fly wheel power/torque should I get if I can run all stock parts & what rev limit should I run? I’d be running it on 95octain unleaded as thats the cheep unleaded here.
If I can afford it if I built it up with non OEM rods (Eagle) & pistons (JE prob 10.5:1 as 12.5:1 sounds like it can hurt the OEM block sleeves) would this make a huge difference to the power/torque/rev limit & what else would I need to do to “match” up to those parts? Say balanced crank etc etc?
Thanx in advance BillB
JDM SIR Glass roof, Mugen kit, Carbon bonnet, Y1 LSD etc etc etc

If you have the abiliy, DIY it. Its not that hard. The hardest part is searching for the misc parts that you need, atleast I had to do a lot of searching.
As far as valve reliefs, I believe that you will be ok as long as you dont retard/advance your timing more than 2 or 4 degrees, I have only read this.
Something else you'll have to think about is the pcv system. Endyne makes a kit that looks simple to install.
As far as power numbers, I cant tell you. There have been some threads on this in the last couple of months or so. Here are somemodded b20vtec motor dynos
I would stay close to the stock crv revlimiter because that what the stock block was designed for unless you do some balancing.
