using stock everything it will not.. compression will fall...

Only simple way to get more power would be to use different pistons like ctr pistons for example... Then compression goes way up...

Also you can use a thinner gasket to mate the head with the block.

This is what we call poor man's type-r setup. As you know the b16 and integra type-r heads are the same. Only difference is that the ITR head has been ported and polished, has better internals etc...

My car is at Upgrade Engineering right now, geting the same thing done. I bought a complete GSR swap started throwing on parts from my old b16a1. The pr3 pistons are geting installed and the b16 head/IM. Compression will be about 11.0 i think and the b16 head is ported and polished with ITR valvesprings and cams. Ill let you know how it runs next week.

B18C block will produce some nice numbers on a B16A head. And vise versa...

I have a b18c1 block I am rebuilding/balancing/honing at 81.25mm and I am considering the b16a head.

If I used ctr pistons and left the head 100% stock, would that be a potential problem?
My plan for now is to get the b16a head/b18c1block working just with ctr pistons and everyhting else stock and later on down the road to buy a brand new b18c5 head from acura for $1375 and swap the sensors, vtec solenid and other stuff of the b16...

Anyone has an opinion?

Well, it would be nice to have the complete short block with oil pump, water pump, caps, crank and sensors.... That would be around $600..

A bare block should sell around $300.

Can anyone answer my previous question? Thanks!!

Tell me where I can pick a gsr short block for 600 I would love to pick one up for that price. Hit me up I would appreciate it. Because all the gsr short blocks ive seen in decent condition go for at least 800

im running this setup just passed my breakin period and im really starting to beat on it , I guess im happy the car is still untuned and running very rich due to large injectors for juice and skunk stage 2's . I paid 350. for my gsr shortblock complete and legit w/ papers try this website http://www.urbanracer.com theres some very good deals on stolen and legit parts from the new york ,new jersey area hope this helps . Depends on what you call decent condition. Just get a bare block. No pistons, water pump, iol pump, crank even... The hone it ang go from there.

Just keep looking in the classifieds here... People sell them all the time.

Depends waht you want to do, your $$$ limit, your goals....

Having already the b16 your choices are:

-turbo the b16
-while driving the b16 build a ls/vtec or b20 vtec ($$$$$)
-get the gsr-short block, hone it, clean it, balnace the crank, pulley, pistons, rods and have it ready to go. I am not sure about the downtime..

If I had a b16 engine I would probably upgrade some head internals before I slaped the head on the b18c1 block. Note one thing:

If you put CTR pistons your compression wil be really high
If you put ITR pistons your compression wil be drop.
If you put b16 pistons your compression wil be just right.. not too low not too high.. Around 10.8-11 I think
