Default B16a or B18c

I have a 93 del sol si and want to put a different engine in it but im not sure what to buy. What is the difference between the two engines other than the hp. The b16a is $2350 and the b18c is $3300 and i guess i just wanted to know if the extra $1000 dollars would be worth it or not. Thanks

From what I've read, the extra torque of the 1.8L is definitely worth it. Just save a little more and get the B18C...

If your going to go through the effort and expence of a swap, go big.

I'm considering a similar swap for my 95 Civic coupe although I was looking at either a B18C or the JDM B18C5. It's a substantial price increase from one to the other yet the only differences I can see, other than the 20 hp gain, is a slightly higher compression, cam timing and lift, and a slightly higher final drive ratio in the tranny. I was wondering if a few simple mods to the B18C would achieve the same results and save a few bucks.

Plus, there's a temping offer on Ebay with seven B18C5 swaps (engine, tranny, mounts, axels, harness, ECU) for $4250 (+shipping)

plus you get a very nice factory LSD, very nicely geared tranny. think about it...by the time you put an LSD in the GSR swap and the install cost, you're already over the cost of a b18c5. i too was struggling with this, but when you think about allllll the stuff you get over a standard GSR, you really are getting a good deal.

BTW, for the topic--if you're thinking about a b16 vs. a b18c1, F a b16..they are weak GSR all the way.

yup. gsr all the way man!!! I have saved up some money, and now I am selling my 95 gsr motor. I saved up for a b18c5 motor to drop into my hatch. I plan on running a t3/t4 turbo. Take a look at my other posts. I am selling my gsr motor (everything you will need) for about $3000. take a look.
But i love my gsr motor in my hatch, and I will love the itr motor even better.
go gsr!

reread my post. I said im looking for $3000 for my complete swap. its still in my civic now, runs fine. Everything will be taken out and sold. (mounts, tranny, P72 ecu, starter, 6 puck clutch, toda flywheel, 10.3 MM plug wires. The motor is very clean.

I've had both b16a and b18c. B18c no doubt. It's what I will probably use in my next car.
