b16/b18 Del Sol Swap Questions
I have a 93 si Sol, this summer I'll be swapping it out, I have it down to two swaps because of my budget, a b16a or a ls swap, which do you guys suggest? my buddy said b16s are useless due to the lack of lowend torque so would I be better off with the ls? But I want to retain power steering and air conditioning, all of that, is it possible to retain all that with a ls? I just didnt no if there was enough room or not. Thanks for any help.

Re: b16/b18 Del Sol Swap Questions (ilovejdm)
i just swapped a b16 into my sol not even three days ago. one thing you have to remeber is that you are going to have to buy a b series shift linkage made just for the del sol from the dealer for the swap to work. ive tried integra linkages and civic b series linkages and none work. good luck with the swap. and eah you can keep the power steering and ac with either swap

go with the B18B.
will need the Del Sol VTEC shiftlinkage (as said before)
you can keep A/C using the Del Sol P54 bracket i believe. somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
hmm powersteering don't remember whats needed. probably more parts from the Del Sol VTEC.
please use the Search function.
B16 will require the same as above if you go with that engine.
oh and don't get the Del Sol Si and VTEC models mixed up.
Si - D16Z6/Y8
VTEC - B16A3/A2

what other info do you need? pro's and con's about these engines?
easily searchable, and there's a Stickie thread about engine swaps.
[FAQ] What swaps are available for my Civic?
if there's nothing else, it just seems like you'll be making a "this vs. that" thread. please don't

nope, I guess that sums it up for my post for now, I decided to go with the b18b or b20 because it always has the potential for ls/vtec and because of the low end torque. I'll be getting everything from hmotors also. Thanks for the help.

If budget is an issue I'd just save for a GSR swap, building a B20/VTEC or LS/VTEC the proper way is very expensive, especially if you cannot assemble the engine yourself. The LS tranny sucks, especially with a VTEC engine. You'll be lucky to sell the LS tranny off for more than 400 bucks and then a S4C tranny (the cheapest hydro vtec tranny) will run you at least 600.
If your wanting to eventually build a hybrid engine I'd just piece together a swap. I pieced together a swap with a junk yard B18B and a S4C tranny/mounts/linkage/brackets from here on H-T for less than 1,700. It took me 6 months or so to get all the parts but it gave me time to buy everything I needed and wait for the best deals. If you search hard enough you can find a good B18B for less than $350.

But isn't it worth it to pay a little bit more and get the 100% start up guarantee from hmotors and to know that all the sensors and everything will work? I believe its 2200 for the complete changeover b18b...but thats not including shipping...and yeah the trannys suck...I'll check and see if they have a tranny upgrade you can get with the package...

Re: (ilovejdm)
any local junk yard I use gives a 100% start up guarentee but just don't tell them your putting the teggy engine in your civic. As for buying from HT, just check vouches. For every flaky seller on there there are a dozen good ones.

ic, that may be something I need to consider, there aren't many junkyards close though here in middle missouri (that would have hondas that is) but I'm in no hurry. Thanks.

Re: (ilovejdm)
the integra LS is popular nation wide and with all the tornados you guys have in the Kansas/Missu area I'd figure there would be a ton of insurance totaled cars in the junk yards.
