Default Adding a little performance to a 93 GS, lsvtec/b20vtec or something else?

I'm picking up a '93 GS for a daily driver, and want to add some power to it..

I have some parts sitting around that I'm itching to use, including:
B17A1 Head, Cams, Intake Manifold and Pistons

I'm thinking of going LS/VTEC just because I have almost everything to do it except an ECU..

I think a B20/VTEC would be more fun, but I don't want to spend the money involved in that..
Though, I should be able to sell the B18A for a decent amount, so I won't have to invest much to get the B20..

Is a B20 with a B17 head going to be just as reliable as a B18 with a B17 head?
I don't want to touch the internals of either one, I just want to slap the thing together and go..

Any suggestions?

Understand that I already have a '92 GS-R fully built and turbo'd, I don't want two of those, I just want another g2, but something a little faster than normal..
