Default 97 Civic 4Dr - D16Y7 to D16Y8

I'm currently in the middle of doing this swap.

Basically I purchased a 97 Civic Auto w/86k miles on it with a blown motor.

It is a DX and comes with a D16Y7. As you know its a 106hp d-series non-vtec.

Now, I was able to source a D16Y6 (according to wikipedia its a New Zealand Domestic version of the D16Y8) with auto trans.

Now, a few questions for the experts out there.

First, the transmissions are noticeably different...but I'm missing the passenger side trans bracket for the D16Y6. I can re-install the Y7 trans...just wondering if that setup will be reliable given the 20+hp difference. My guess is it will be fine but I'm posting just to be sure.

Also, any other suggestions for this swap? I have the Y6 ecu so wiring shouldn't be too complicated...I'm guessing I just have to add the wires for vtec.

Thanks in advance.

The EASIEST way would be to get the engine with the harness and ECU. Remove old engine/engine harness and install new engine/engine harness and plug ECU in. done. Otherwise, you'll need to add VTEC, VTEC pressure switch, and knock sensor wires.
