Hey guys...My friend just did an engine swap from my 97 HX civic and we put in 99 si engine...everything seems to be in place and it idles fine, but it seems to redline at 3grand and wont go higer...anyoneknow of any common problems or solutions for this? We checked all the timing and it seems right....even checked the belts and distributor...thanks guys-Kevin

 

sounds to me like the car is in limp mode, is the check enigne light on? What ecu are you running?

 

the car is definatly in limp mode, did you guys check to see if the plugs were plugged in right. also look at your ignition system meaning dizzy, spark plugs and wires!! good luck and try to see if the engine light is on, and if it is then look for the code

 

you should really jus check da timing/tuning...im sure das da problem...

 

I think thats the problem, there is no check engine light at all...so im not sure exactly what that means...im running a 97 gsr ecu...also when i try my hx ecu it does the same exact thing...weird....any comments...thanks guys

 

when you say there is no code do you mean the light isnt always on or do you mean you have jumped the ecu and you didnt get anything? sometimes there is a code and the light isnt on but its still in the system. jump the ecu just to make sure. also make sure the light goes for a few seconds right before you start your car, it would suck if all this time you though there was no code but the bulb was just burnt out.

no, the check engine light does not go on at all...i believe they checked the bulb though and they jumped the wire....

 

man i had the same prob in my car. couldnt figure out wth it was. shop told me it was my crank angle sensor. worked fine after that.
