Default supercharged with FD gears?

im looking into upgrading my gears with a 4.77 final drive but not really sure if its too short for the supercharged S2k. what do you guys think about it? should i go for a 4.44 FD instead?

thanks

I'd pass on 4.77's for a boosted car. 4.30's or 4.44's tops. Then again, why not just make more power?

to short for boosted cars... you'll be shifting like a maniac... besides, you'll be topping the car out quite quickly with the 4.77 gears...

4.44 max with boost...

I dont see how it matters the gears your choosing if your S/C or not. Youll be the same RPM range with the same set of gears going the same speed, boosted or not.

yes but u'll be getting through the rev range a hell of alot quicker with a s/c, so ud be shifting constanly. Same speed, same rev, just at a different time, ie: much earlier with a s/c

As your power goes up you will need the gearing less. I ran the 4.44s for 3+ years and went back to the 4.10s this year. The 4.10s are considerably faster in the quarter mile with 450 rwhp.

I'm working on getting a set of 3.9s at this time.

You wont be getting through the gears that much faster unless your pushing Sideways power.

1/4 miles times will be faster with 4.10's for you. I know with 4.44's Im going into 5th before the end of the track. You must be in 5th 3/4 ways through even with 4.10's.

Still dont see how choosing gears really matters s/c or not unless your pushing over 400whp. I think 4.77's are to much for any S.

If I could do it again, Id get 4.56's.

The link specifically refers to the ring and pinion in the diff. Its just like installing the ring and pinion J's racing or Ricks offer. It changes the gear ratio of the final drive. Dont know how first gear or "shaft" (which shaft??) come into it.

I have a CT SC with 4.77's. Can't complain. I go through the low RPM's quickly and get to VTEC sooner. Anyone with a SC will tell you that there is no effect fromthe SC until you get to VTEC. The sooner you are there the better.
