yes you keep the softtop. as to it being easy, ive read for the mugen one to expect a few hours for install and assume the oem one to be around the same. ill let someone here who actually has one give the deffinite answer. ive considered it, but for the money, and time to install i will invest in other parts for right now.

the top weighs around 42lbs.... so it's not heavy at all.. however it's quite large to get your arms around.....it's doable by yourself, but do you want to take the risk?....

experience in installing a hardtop
I just bought a hardtop two weeks ago and installed it myself. Transporting the hardtop home is a pain since the box is huge (5.5' x 5' x 2') even though it weighs only about 120lbs. So pay somebody to deliver it to your doorstep.
Installation is very easy since the instruction is very clear and the steps involved are simple (if you know how to use a screwdriver, a ratchet, and are unafraid to pull things apart). For somebody who is mechanically-challenged like me, it took me a total of four hours to install.
To me, the most difficult step is to adjust the retainers since I had to hunt those wind noise but my cabin is pretty quiet now. I guess it could have been worse since I have read people complained about having to replace their front strikers due to wind noise so I feel pretty lucky.
The next most difficult step is, like someone mentioned earlier, is to align the the hardtop for the initial install. It is a pain because one has to loosen a total of 8 bolts, seats the hardtop, tighten the bolts, and repeating these steps until the hardtop is aligned properly. The cabin is small so moving around just get that much more difficult.
Now I can take off and put on my hardtop in about five minutes. I have done it a few times. Need two people or you will scratch your paint or worse.

Re: experience in installing a hardtop (tk2068)
Sorry if the explanation on the 8 bolts was not clear. You need to mess around with the 8 bolts only during the initial install. Once you set those 8 bolts properly for your car (the 8 bolts secure the handle assembly, and the handle assembly is adjustable), from that point on, it would be very quick to take off and put on the top since there are quick releases.

Re: (alexS2000fan)
It should be quicker. I was quoted $300+ (four hours labor) so I decided to do it myself and I was glad I did since I learnt a thing or two about my car. One big problem I can see when having the dealer do it for you is that you either have to buy the hardtop from the dealer itself (probably won't get the best price) or having to transport the hardtop to the dealer for installation.

Re: (EGHatch94)
I was thinking about buying a used one, too, until I found out that many of them don't include the mounting kits since once mounted in the car, the kits are a bit of a pain to uninstall. Checking around, I saw people selling those mounting kits for hundreds of dollars. So try to get the seller to give you the mounting kit, too.
