A friend of mine has a 2001 s2000 for some reason it seems to cut out at like 6000 rpms, i know it could be the oil level because that once happened on my Si. But I was wondering if any of you guys had a few other ideas of what it might be so i can check a few things at one time. I did some searches but couldnt come up with anything.

Is he mashing the throttle while the engine is cold? The ECU shuts the fuel off somewhere in the 6-7k RPM range when the engine hasn't reached operating temperature.

Make sure you have three bars on the temperature display before you play!
