computer upgrades
what computer upgrades are you s2k owners using...i know the cheap way to go is a vafc2, and the more expensive way would be an amuse or backyard ecu...anyone wanna share their ecu setup?

hows partial throttle and daily driving with the vafc? does it drive normal or is it a little hesitant, shaky, etc?

my dad has a dyno at his shop but its only for inspections and such, it doesnt rate horsepower though, but im sure i can use it to tune im just a lil scurred...my last eg hatch, it blew up while it was getting tuned so tuning seems so scetchy to me..i want to learn how to do it myself so i dont have that problem ever again

ROFL
1. tuning is not scetchy... it'll actually save your engine..
2. get a tuner that knows what he's doing not some idiot at some shop...
3. don't even tell me the guy knew what he was doing cause if he did he wouldn't have blown your motor on the dyno....
4. butt dynos don't count... and are not an effective way of tuning on your own..

either something was wrong with your set up or your tuner
either something was wrong with your set up or your tuner
i know it was the tuner, he thought it was a good idea to bring my 2nd gen b16a with toda spec a's and type r valvetrain to 8600..toda only recommends bringing it to 8400, with the type-r valvetrain..and still made me pay for dyno time...ugh, w/e i guess everything worked itself out, i own the s2k ive always wanted now
I got a few questions. Which is better, the vafc 1 or vafc 2, is there that much difference? I heard that VAFC settings will eventually get overun by the ECU, the ECU will correct it back to stock settings or something like that. To the point where the VAFC setting will be gone after a period of time. I read something about this on Honda Tech and it happening to a prelude. Yet no one has dyno to prove it.
vafc II is better then 1..... the vafc II is more precie on the tuning...
and yes.. you are correct.. the stock ecu will compensate for the changes after a while... thats why the vafc is a piggy back system... the only thing that'll stay the same as to what you set it to is the vtec engagement point

ah okay. Anyone knows how long the settings last on the VAFC before the ECU compensates for it? When this happens all we need to do is reset the ECU right and everything should be as they were correct?

well.. in virginia anyways... we have emissions done every 2 years.. however it's not done by the state it's done by pretty much every gas station.... well they all have "dynos" that put your car on the rollers so they run it for like 3-5 minutes in a certain rpm range to test the emissions from it.... this is technically a dyno and you can make runs on it.. but it doesn't read hp numbers...so in other words.. they are just big rollers that monitor a couple of things..
