Default Write up on ATTS install?

My Atts light has been on for a long time now and it acts like an open diff so i plan on replacing it with a used atts unit with only 29,000 miles on it. Does anyone have a write up on this or should i just try and use a chilton manuel(I have one and it really doesn't have any info on the atts let alone installation instuctions).

I have read about people replacing the sh tranny with a base to get rid of the atts, but would it be worth it and how exactly would the car run seeing as certain sensors would have to be removed. Would there be ECU problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Before replacing anything, I recommend following the applicable steps from the following thread. It would help you and us to know the actual problem.

on your write up after you figure out a code from the durations how would I know if the code is for my engine light or atts. Currently my engine light is off and only my atts is on. would that mean that the code that comes on will only be for the atts

It's based on which light is blinking. If the CEL blinks, you have a code for the CEL. If the ATTS blinks, you have a code for the ATTS. If both blink, you have a code for both.

You're backwards. A CEL will cause the ATTS light to come on. An ATTS Malfunction would cause the ATTS light to come on, but not the CEL.

The unit may be fine but there are other sensors and such associated with the ATTS unit, so you may not have to replace it...

Hey everyone. Im glad you are talking about the atts. Im not as familiar with Hondas as I want to be and I am helping a freind with her prelude. She has a 91 SH and the engine light and the ATTS light is on.

First can someone quickly explain how to check and clear the codes for this car? and then what is the ATTS? Does it have to do with the transmission?

Iv been reading around on other threads but I havent been able to find one that explains anything its just a bunch of you guys that already know what all this stuff is. sorry for being a newb. Im just trying to help her out and am getting stuck.

I also dont want to look like a dumb *** because she is pretty hot.

i'm guessing that this is a typo and that you may mean 2001...there wasnt a 91 SH model prelude to my knowledge (but there is a 2001 SH with ATTS).

ATTS is a feature on the SH prelude. it applies engine torque to the wheel that 'needs it the most.' do a quick search on here and youll find a ton of info on it.

again, props for helping a hot chick out with her car. never a bad move.
