what does vtec controller do?

i got 98 lude and vtec kicks in at about 5000rpm
by having vtec(vfac)controller, vtec kicks in anytime i want?
does it worth it?

yes, you can change your vtec crossover with a vafc. along with some other things
i would say not worth it.
i have one and i dont use it. you have to dig though many menus to make changes, and the menus/options are cryptic so its a pain. its not a bad way to make a bit of extra power from your car but if you're looking for a real tune, youll need something like hondadata

With a vafc, yes you can engage vtec at any rpm above 3000. but.. VTEC does absolutely no good on a 2.2 below 5k. The high cam lobe (vtec) has a profile that is made for high rpm. anything less than ~5000 you will actually lose power (even though vtec sounds mean as hell at lower rpms) so, is it worth it? not really.

i tuned a stock internal jdm h22a with skunk2 manifold, stock header, AEM CAI with crome and it liked vtec best at 4300 rpm. gained 20ftlbs of torque in that area over my street tune.
