Default VTEC problem

Setup: stock F20B (fyi pretty much a destroked H22)

Problem: car pulls hard across the band but is constrained once in vtec. Although I can hear vtec engage, there is no power.

Notes:
-car was tuned properly on the dyno over two years ago with a custom chip and ran mint until last week (should rule out ecu issue)
-car was sitting for 6 weeks without being driven; prior to this, vtec was fine
-dismantled vtec solenoid; everything is functional, clean, no gunk or anything unusual
-distributor hasn't shifted so timing shouldn't be an issue

*thinking it's fuel related (filter/pump/fpr)...i'll pull the spark plugs just for piece of mind but prolly not the source of the problem

anybody come across this problem?

I am having the same issue right now with mine. I havnt had VTEC since the rebuild of the bottom end. My previos motor also had the same issue; i checked the timing belt marks 3 or 4 times then one time the intake cam was one tooth off; i loosened the timing belt and moved the intake cam and VTEC came back. How many miles on UR timing belt? Did U clean the screen behind the VTEC oil pressure switch housing? Check to see how much oil pressure U are getting when VTEC engages (in manual). Hope this helps. If U figure it out please email me... it might help me figure mine out. blu@bresnan.net Thanks

Well its a swapped motor so I cant be sure but its a 2001 and the thing doesnt burn a drop. they said it had 35K miles when i bought it which makes sense. ive prolly put another 10K on it so lets say 50K miles max.

im thinking it actually might be something as simple as oil viscosity bc it HAS been sitting in my garage in the bitter cold on the same oil without being driven for almost 2 months now. maybe it needs to be changed out. this would also make sense given the fact that i havent had a problem with vtec ever and then after i take it out for one day after its been sitting it gives me a problem.

i'll try this and then let you know. thx for the feedback.
