d15b vtec problem

Icon2 d15b vtec problem

hi i need some help please new to this forum i have a 1993 honda ballade i dropt in a d15b vtec single silinoid after a long battle with feul econimy and vtec not working they told me to put a feul manage sustym took it to a dyno shop they fitted the sustym and stil no vtec the silinoid makes a click on 3000 rpm but no extra power they told me the timing was out so i had it tdc today wil take it back on monday to hear what they say i dont trust them at all can any one tell me what do i need to check why the vtec dosent kick in

Check your screen in the vtec solenoid might be dirty.A buddy of mine had the same problem he clean the screen for the vtec solenoid and it started working again.

Make sure the solenoid is even good?

3k RPMs?? That's way too low. Also a D15B VTEC activation is not as noticible as a DOHC VTEC activation and neither one should be like a nitrous oxide blast.

Thanks the reply so basicly i need to take it of and just clean the hole thing i no that normaly the vtec need to ingage at 4500 rpm but it is still a automatic trans mision thats why he said he will let it ingage at 3000 rpm but you say i need to change it to 4500 ill rather do that what these are saying no is to put a oil presure gage in and run 12 volt straight to the silenoid i am first going to claen it

how wil i no if it is a dohc vtec on the block it only says d15b i have looked at pictures of the vtec en gine that these oaks post and it is the same as the dohc vtec i have study the vtec engine on sites to see witch one i have cant wait to feel what it does

It's sohc I was just saying that on a DOHC the VTEC is more noticeable. You probably wont be able to tell its even activating, especially at 3k RPMs.

then i am going to tell the oak to set the vtec at 4.5k rpm i had a normal vtec before not the silenoid one and it had more power than this one there you could feel the vtec kick in

You can for sure hear the crossover on jdm d15b I had one and you can tell just make sure you have an intake on it so you can hear it a little better

can you tel me on the silenoid there is a oil sensor it is not connected do it need to be connected before it will work and were do you conect it

There is usually two plugs for vtec. And if you don't know much about vtec. Vtec runs off oil so that might be your issue. RESEARCH is your friend

you say research i have been looking al over to find the correct wiering proceger well i understand this vtec at a surten rpm the silinoid kicks open oil vlow trough the pasege and engage vtec you see ive been looking for answers but to no avail not even from you but you see i am determent to collect the invomation i am a big honda fan and just crazy about vtec had to teach my self to fix things on my honda even overhauling this d15b vtec engine i am one those oaks dont believe in paying someone else to fix my car do it my self learn the hard way if you do it like that youle have respect for youre car and look nicely after it
