Default Vtec not engaging..

My vtec is not engaging, I just had the timing belt redone a couple weeks back after some seals burst and all my oil emptied out . Now, about 2-3 weeks later my vtec stopped engaging. Oil level is perfect. Sounds like vtec wants to go but in the 5200 turnover point the intake just sounds like it's ripping really hard, not like normal vtec, and vtec doesn't occur. Any advice?

thanks.

when you dumped all your oil, did you do any damage to the motor?

So you're saying that whenever you hit VTEC, it doesn't pull or it just doesn't kick in at all??

i'm guessing no, I had it towed right away and vtec was fine for a week or two after the timing belt change. I also use mobil 1.

I believe if it was the VTEC solenoid it would be throwing a code, but check it anyway. Also how many miles are on your car? Do you use Mobil 1 sythetic or just Mobil 1? Have you switched between the two?

the only time my vtec doesn't kick in, is when I first start it. I think it has to do with the correct oil pressure, not sure tho. When it warms up however it's fine.

thats normal behavior though, VTEC will not engage until the car is fully warmed up. it will also not engage properly if your oil pressure is very low.

my car is fully warmed up.. as far as I know every oil change I've done is been with mobil 1 synthetic. If there was a mix up for whatever reason would that cause vtec to not activate? My cel came on a few weeks back but was only on for a few hours a couple days, the light hasn't been on since. Vtec was working fine then though. As of this morning vtec still is not engaging, and there are no bursts of vtec (that would be the pressure being to low and vtec would be choppy..). So a cel code would be thrown for the vtec selonoid? Is the vtec selonoid visable, where is it located?

thanks for the idea's guys.

try using 10w-30 and don't use any synthetic oil for now.
vtec won't throw any code if u have a low oil pressure the only thing that will lite up would be u'r oil but for now try using a thicker oil

when you ran out of oil, is it possible that the little pins in the VTEC engaging thingies fucked up?
