Default VTEC need help help

Hey guys allright ive been helping a buddy with his H22a JDM. Im pretty sure we have the wiring right i mean its allready pre wired for vtec in the 92-96 si we just extended the two wires for the vtec, did that no vtec throwin a cel allright so we looked under the car missen 4 oil pan bolts pull that banged the huge dent out of it and put it back up with the new bolts, and still no vtec. Know do u guys think the only thing left would be the soliniods.

Just a thought did you check that the huge dent in the oil pan hasn't damaged the oil pick up ? if it's squashed it will restrict oil flow and stop vtec kicking in. This previous thread shows another member who had the same probs.

Also look at the other link by prelittlelude inside the link I have posted, it goes into detail of what other things to check that are a common cause of vtec not biting.

check the vtec soliniods. the wires and all make sure you guys had it hookup rite. check the coolant sensor too mine vtec does not engage when my coolant sensor or not hook up rite.. just make sure to check all the wires and sensor. there could be many thing that cause the vtec not to engage.
