VTEC does not engage for the following reason

wiring problem
lack of oil presure
or if car hasn't reach operating temp

if it was a wiring problem, you'd get CEL, and if you say you can turn the car off, and then when you start it later, it will work, the MOST LIKELY you are not letting the engine reach it's operating temp. before expecting the VTEC to engage

yea i already thought about all those..but the one thing that is getting me is that i am at proper temp and it still doesnt work...so i am thinking its the wiring....BUT what would make a wire or wires get power just by shuting the car off and back on?? Another thing i thought of is a bad vtec solenoid or something with the oil pump, pressure switch. God, my ex mechcanic is awful..i wish i knew how to work on my own stuff with out breaking s**T

Check to see if your oil pan is dented. Same thing happened to me. I had a dent that was slowing my iol pressure down. I took it off and pounded it out with a rubber mallet. It works perfect now.

if he didn't have oil pressure, tit wouldn't engage sometimes and not others, it wouldn't engage at all

There are 2 strainers which filter oil for VTEC. They love to be full of different **** and block oil flow. I changed mine for a couple bucks.

Hmmm...where are these filters at????? I know of a filter behind the vtec solenoid. Thanks for the help.

Oh dont think my oil pan is dented...But i will check anyway. Who knows.... it hangs very low and i bash my header all the time so its possible.
