Default Tranny Problem

So after racing last nite my tranny is stuck in gear, not sure which one but its either 3rd 4th or 5th cus when i let the clutch out even when its not in any gear it still wants to take off but stall cus its stuck in a high gear. Anyone ever run into this problem? Races are done for the year but wanna start planning for next year. Just wanna figure out if i can fix this or if i have to get a new tranny.

sounds like u blew out ur clutch happened to me after like 3 days when i put in a new clutch. it was "stuck in gear" but i stoped by the guys house and he told me i could shift it by just getting the rev up and pull it out of gear, then hold it into the next gear. when we took the trans a part there was absloutly nothing on the disk plate it was bare metal the clutch litteraly fell part into a ton of peices. could be wrong but thats what happened to me when my was "stuck in gear" after putting in a new clutch.

solved it buy not putting in a autozone clutch and put in a act 6 puck and 8lb fly wheel. waited a while b4 i stoped on it. and havent had any problems yet its been prob over a year so. hope that helps???

or maybe. after re reading ur problem. sences u still a pedel and can move the the shifter around in and out of gear but its staying in gear.

betting if thats the case your shifter came disconnected from the linkage if u take off the center concel you should be able to find exectlay what happend. chances the bolt that holds the linkage to the shifter came off. that happened to me one time to aslo after putting in a short shifted and only finger tightning the bolts

try that b4 you go droping the tranny to replace the clutch. thats prob. your problem .i should have read what you wrote a littel better b4 posting sorry

see everything in the car is stripped already do to that i race in on a dirt oval track. I took the 4 bolts off that hold the shift assembly together and there wasnt much to look at, everything moves properly even when i move both linkages at the tranny i can see the shifter moving and going into each gear. Just that the tranny is stuck in a gear and even when its in nuetral and i go to let the clutch out the car wants to go but so high of a gear it stalls.

so it shifts fine when the car is off, but when the car is running it wont come out of gear?

sounds to me like a shift fork problem...if the car goes forward in neutral and the shifter feels normal...theres obviously a gear engaging when its not supposed to be

yep, idk if that can be fixed without pulling the tranny or what? I just got it a few weeks ago and only raced with it 2 times. Note that im in 2nd gear at all times. This all started after i tried popping the car out of gear from the outside to push it backward which popped my clip off to the cable for the main gears at the tranny. I fixed it since but have had problems.

Grab your shift fork and actuate it. See if its loose as a 50 year old strippers coochy.

you mean the one on the tranny? if so i can move it and go back and fourth into gears, even when i move the other one at the same time to go into each gear. when i jack the car up and try to turn the wheel it barely spins and makes noise likes its in gear. Anyway of popping it out?

yeah the one on the tranny that your slave clutch is hooked up too. Don't play with it too hard but see if its attached to something on the other side lol so to speak (inside the tranny) ie. release bearing I believe (around there anyway)
