Default tranny/clutch troubles.....syncro?!

lastnite, i was on the freeway and racin, tried to drop to 3rd, and it was grindin and didnt wanna go into gear. and when i got off and was slowing down, i notice i couldnt get into 1st gear while the car was rollin. today 3rd gear isnt doin it but 1st gear is still grinding if i try to shift into while the car's rollin.

would this most likely be inside the tranny, say a syncro? or could my month old exedy clutch already be bad?
thanks.

Symptoms point to synchros. The clutch would'nt cause those problems. Are you trying to rev-match when you downshift??

well today third gear seems fine haha. but 1st gear, normally, i could jus leave the clutch down and put it into 1st, but now i cant. i have to be at a complete stop before i can put it into 1st.

Could be a busted disc spring. You're going to have to drop the tranny to really see what's goin' on.

isnt it normal to not really get the trans back into first when your allready moving? just for like safety purposes? but for third, defineately a syncro if its not doing it in any other gears.

If it goes away when you double clutch than its probably a synchro. First gear shouldn't really go in over 5-10mph anyway unless you double clutch. Try it from a little roll maybe 10mph just put it in neutral, let out the clutch, rev it a little, put the clutch back in, and see if it goes into first. Hope this helped

when i try n put it back in first gear, i'm only almost stopped, under 5mph, and it grinds unless i'm almost totally stopped. someone suggested that it could be a bad slave cylinder?

I would probably rule out a synchro problem. If your saying the problems are with 1st and 3rd, then definelty not. The synchro's are for the 1-2, 3-4, 5th and reverse. Another words since 1/3 dont share the same hub then your problems lie elsewhere. I would maybe look into a bent/broken shift fork, or shift rod possibly.
On a side note. Sychros are very expensive to replace---be hopefull its not them.
Also, drain the trans fluid and pay attention to the color of the oil. If you see bronze metallic color in the oil then your synchro rings are worn pretty bad. If silver metallic then thats probably bearings and/or broken pieces (like forks).
Hope this helps ya!
