First there are NO Prelude SH model cars that came stock with the SS gearbox to the USA. Second you need to take the cam covers off to check the position. There are marks in there. Make sure you are at TDC on #1 cylinder and follow the info in the Helm. The timing marks on the flywheel are under a rectangular rubber cover on the passenger side of the block. Hope this helps.

if its automatic, the timing mark will be on the crank pulley. there's no flywheel. so line your TDC mark up first (on pulley with pointer on block). make sure that's #1 TDC by taking distributor cover off and seeing if the rotor is pointing to the #1 spark plug. then do whatever you have to do to expose your cam gears. the arrows on the gears should be pointing straight up and the dashes on the gears should be level with the top surface of the head (straight across).
