shuddering when I first start pulling out of the driveway
I get this shuddering the first 2 or 3 times coming out of first gear in the morning. It's kind of weird and hard to explain but the car is like jumping. Anyone experience this

So - when you're in the process of shifting into second - it shudders?.......
or once you're already in second?
Could be something simple as your cat being clogged. How's the power when accelerating once the engine is warm?

Re: (piggydog)
I have this problem also but it is not all the time. Just started a couple months ago and one day it will shutter and shake one day it will not. When it does shake if I start off fast it is not noticable.
Hope someone has an idea what is causing this.

methinks it is problay a CVjoint starting to fail.
Try going to a parking lot with a friend and turn your wheel to lock then drive in the circle. if its bad he should hear a clicking noise.
Also its more noticable to the driver if you do it in reverse.

probably not a CV problem. It occurs going in a straight line and usually only the first 2 or 3 times I'm in first (although it sometimes happens in the middle of the day)

it happens to me on occasion i think its my motor mount inserts... but who knows. It happens to my buddies GST real bad since he put his inserts in too... If you just rev up as your pullin away it helps.

i have the symptoms as well.
when you take your foot off the clutch to start accelerating from a stop, my car will almost hop (in essence). from what i can tell its definatly clutch related....
lightened flywheel....new clutch here i come!

Of course you're gonna have it. Hard motor mounts are better for launching, but don't dampen vibrations as well as stock.

I had sort of the opposite problem about 9mo ago. It would act ok one second then it would screw up the next. It turned out to be a clutch spring that had gotten out of its keeper, and lodged in sideways. Sometimes it would go back to its home, and the car would act fine. I don't think this is your problem, but more information never hurts.

That's the problem I had last year. Sometimes I would press the pedal and it would be hard as crap and wouldn't fully disengage (only enough so I could pull it out of gear, but not put it back in without double/triple clutching)

Re: (InvaderTrax)
shuddering is either clutch chatter, or a broken motor/torque mount. look for ripped mounts, especially the ones on either side that bolt to the bottom of the frame. or the one that bolts to the front and rear cross member.. depending on year of car.

Re: (95greenlude)
same problem here too with a 2001 sh. posted on here a couple months ago to ask about it, and couldnt' really come up with a definitive solution. I've just been living with it these days, but from what I can tell, I only experience the issue first thing the morning (usually when its cold), and then its fine for the rest of the day. This seems to be a more common issue than I thought
