Serious Issues
Hey everybody,
Some serious probs I've been having lately.
My car has been dieing on my while its running.
First started one day, I drove around, parked the car, came back out 10 mins later and it wouldn't start. Kept cranking it. Stopped for a couple of minutes and it started.
Second time it happened was one fine morning when I tried to start it, same thing, cranked but wouldnt start. Started later in the evening.
Third time was when the problem started getting unique. I was cruising at about 20 mph foot on the gas , and it just suddenly cuts out engine dies, wont restart.
Keep cranking...Starts after about 20 mins.
After this happened a couple of times while cruising the engine would just cut out and wouldnt immediately restart.
Today was the best. On the highway entry ramp accelerating hard and it just cuts out and wouldnt start for 45 mins. Finally get it started and moving, then I get to the exit ramp, I'm slowing down getting ready to stop and it cuts out again. Get it started after about 10 mins. Drive back almost nearby my apartment, slow down for a stop sign, the car dies again. Can't start it up...Push it back to the parking lot. So I give it an hour, try to restart it, wont start, knocked and flicked the main relay still no results. So I go ahead and disconnected the ecu and tidy up the wires around it, I've got the PLX R500 wideband kit, so theres a whole bunch of inputs and outputs connected to the ecu harness. I tidy everything up plug the ECU back in and it starts...Drive around for 20 mins, no probs...Parked, drove a lil later no probs.
Was just wondering whether you guys had any ideas/suggestions. Symptoms sound main relay related, but I don't know possibly ignition module?ignition coil?any other ideas?I'd appreciate some feedback from you guys

Re: (EK-tacy98)
as ADVAN EG2 said, i would check the main relay first. If thats not the problem look at the ignition system. If you havent done a tune up anytime recently do plugs, wires, rotor, cap.. and see if that fixes things

Re: (doublejz)
swap in a known good coil. You can test the old one with a multimeter...If the car still dies on you, Id replace the igniter next. It seems like those things are the cause of "no spark" than coils or main relays. I know a guy with a crx that just now had his main relay fail...
Ive had an igniters last a year and others last over 3...luck of the draw i guess..
