it depends on the rest of the car, as you can imagine. the problem with relocating the stock type battery into the cabin is that there's a ventilation issue with the stock battery and you may or may not be breathing in some pretty nasty **** if you put it in the cabin.

as far as vehicle weight distribution is concerned, the ideal weight dist. for a FF car is somewhere in the neighborhood of 55%F/45%R in some of the studies i've seen. so moving it to the middle vs. the rear may or may not affect this percentage. still more, driver preference plays into this equation alot, some people like loose and others like looser, so it depends. also suspension settings, tires, camber settings etc etc will likely play a much bigger role in determining the handling characteristics of the car than 400 lbs-in of moment (40 lbs x 10")

i wish being avid meant i could actually get out and drive more. but between school and my collection of CEL's and other little car problems...

you can take almost everything out...you can rip out your speakers and headunit if you can go without music. rip your seats out if you wont ever be driving anyone..rip out carpet..u can even take out your shift *** and just use the stick. you can take out cruise control, abs, power steering, ac, and a whole lot more. decide what you want and what you want to sacrifice.

I also know that 100lbs is enough weight to make a difference. My wife weighs 110 and when she is with me I can litterally feel a difference. I know I can cut 200lbs from my car without loosing driveability and that is my plan. I own a base S 92 Lude and really want to get it to about 2450. Keeping my back seat and all panels (to keep my stock appearance).

200 lbs is a little ambitious.

if you've got a sunroof, getting a CF plug for that will get you around 30 lbs off if the motor for the 'roof comes out along with the panel.
hawker genesis lightweight battery (13 lbs) vs. the 42 lb stock battery is another 29 lbs.
CF hood cuts another 30 - 40 lbs.
12 lb 15" rims cuts ~28 lbs
aftermarket SS exhaust is about 10 lbs lighter than oem
spare tire/tools ~20 lbs ?
aftermarket header is about 5-10lbs lighter than stock
lightweight bucket seat is 30 lbs lighter than oem

so far the running total is: 182 lbs and relatively comfortable.

these figures are off the top of my head, and might be somewhat inaccurate, but they're close enough to get an idea of what you could do to shave some weight.

beyond these things it gets pricey or uncomfy.

i've removed/substituted with something lighter:

back seats
spare tire/jack
sound deadening material
cf hood
heat shield from header
shock absorber thing on front bumper

that's most of it. i'm down to just under 2900 lbs with full tank of gas. i'm running 14.70's and beating cars that i shouldn't be, like b18 hatches and built n/a si coupes that supposedly run 13.80's. and all of this with only intake and exhaust on a base 5th gen 5spd. i think weight reduction does a lot more than some of us think. the prelude is a heavy car and this is a great way to get faster and surprise some people.

Depends on what thedesired static weight distribution is and what the intent is; mots people move the battery to the mid - line / back of the car to get weight off the front axle - then again, I just replaced my giganto 50 lbs battery w/ a 12 lbs dynabatt and don't need to worry about moving anything anywere, since I can balance out 12 lbs much easier than 50 lbs.

John D, how heavy is your car now? Do you daily drive it? How liveable is it without PS? Do you parallel park much?

w/o ps on a car that is meant to have ps is hell. i have done it before and its not pretty, parallel parking will be unheard of, and unless your goin over 20mph, turning the wheel will give you a good workout.....

im thinking along the same lines as the others, but i wouldnt get the sunroof plug, for 30 lbs...i love driving with it open....but i guess thats just opinion and doesnt really add much insight....hmm

edit: a couple people said stuff about a carbon trunklid for preludes, anyone know one for 4th gen with a website or phone #??

On my friends Teg it has no AC and PS it feels exactly if not easier then my hatch back. If i would do it to a lude i would do exactly what my friend did to his ride and strip the uneeded stuff so it could be nice and light to turn.

i plan on getting it weighed very soon, b/c i am too interested in the weight. i also forgot to mention i dont have a spoiler either. but bolivianfuego, can bet your last dollar ill be riding with an 1/8th tank or less, i ride like that no matter what hehe

yes i daily drive it, (except when its really hot) actual in car drive time for me like less than an hour a day (school/work) until like 5pm when my dad brings his work truck home and i just use that its VERY liveable w/o PS its the same thing as having PS when you get rolling, also works them guns and i never parallel park

Holy ****. Your my evil twin. I used to roll like that evey where cause i was always ready to run someone. My friends called me crazy but i just thought i had *****. Man seriously though your setup is exactly what i plan to do soon enough, minus the turbo setup. Im probably going to gut the sound deadening also though. no airbags no ac no PS. Might keep sunroof though, they make the prelude.

haha you shoulndt of said that now they are gunna change our titles to the olsen twins hahahaha you can be the one with the drug problem hell yeah, not to be a ricer but gas = weight and i figured might as well ride close to empty cuz our cars are heavy in the first place. but yeah im in the process of trying to make air bag "trays" since no1 makes them for our car. but check out my motor build... i dont think i can turn back now with 9:1 compression https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1030700

Well with that said, i was wondering, cant you just undo the top piece of the passenger Airbag and use that to fill up the hole. Cause i swear that piece slides off.
