Icon2 Quicker steering rack in a prelude ?

Hi, is there any way of making the prelude's steering rack quicker than it is ?

I mean, i found sth like "steering quickener" but this requires some welding and etc... i'm not a fan of this solution....

I was thinkng of something like using the Intergra's parts or the civic's rack... any ideas of how to "shorten" or "quicken" the steering rack in a Prelude ?

i'd be grateful for any solutions for that...

okay so there is one idea... let me know what you think about it, and if maybe someone tried to do this in any other car...

The idea is to drill another hole in the knuckle, closer to the hub, so that the tie rod will travel less, causing the same angle of knuckle travel that it ha dbefore...

1 is original
2 is the desired place to mount the tie tod end...

I like the idea, one thing to look out for is that usually those holes have a slight taper to them, and I'm not really sure how to drill that out correctly. Also another thing to keep in mind is that because the tie rod end will still travel as far, your tires will be turning sharper at a locked out turn, which may be better at low speeds on dry pavement, but if the turn was tight enough in wet weather you may actually push the tires rather than making the turn. I dont think it would hurt anything to try it and I wouldn't think it would weaken the arm enough to be a concern if you went back to the original hole. Good luck and let us know how it goes I am all for self research and development!

Personally I would look into companies that modify racks for faster ratios, they are out there. I wouldn't mess with the geometry of the suspension or steering.

Give us some names of companies like u say, i will be more than happy to contact them and ask if they're interested in manufacturing a "sport" rack for a prelude.

I heard that Quaife has sth like that for civics, it might me an idea to contact them, any other ideas ?

Well, I know q-rack makes them for subarus, and may be able to give an idea where to go, and just a quick google search brought 3-4 other companies up for me.

That is the depth of my spoon.
