Question...
I have a JDM H22A swap. I have i/h/e gude cams, pulleys. I know that vtec doesnt kik in until it is warmed up. But anyway i started out in first and a lil bit before 7k it felt like the motor shut of for like 1/2 a second right before i shifted. But when i shifted it went fine into second and i kept on goin and it seemed like nothing has happened. the redline for my cams are 8600 but i didnt get close to that. What would cause that to happen?
i think i may have stumbled upon it...i wasnt sure what to search for but i think i found it in a post. I appologize to the mods. tell me what you think?

The ECU limits the RPM at 6500 RPM with no VTEC for 3 possible reasons:
1. It thinks the coolant temperature is below 60oC. (engine cold) (ECT sensor)
2. It thinks the car is doing below 20kph. (car stopped) (VSS)
3. It thinks the VTEC solenoid coil is bust.
The VTEC control wire comes from A4 on the ECU connector and is a GREEN/YELLOW wire.
Hope this helps.

4)it's not getting a signal from the VTEC Pressure Switch...
