Default ECU question

I just bought a 93 Prelude S with an h22a4 swap out of a 97. It runs good, but when I hit the stock rev limiter around 6300 the motor sounds like it still has alot left, and there is no vtec. I was told that I need a p13 ECU for everything to work properly, is this correct? Just wanted to make sure before I started spending money. Also how hard is it to wire one of these up?

Thanks!

you are running in limp mode bud

check your wiring for the swap especialy the vtec soleniod and see if you can get vtec working cause stock fuel cut is 7600 i believe

you may be right about using a p13 becuase i didnt have to a swap mine came stock

How should it be wired? All I noticed were 3 wires hanging off not hooked up to anything.

pull your ecu out and look at it and see what it says first. see if it's a p13 or not. then tell us.

Sorry for the delay. The ECU in there now says P12.

well thats your problem. you don't have vtec. it's not wired for vtec and your car isn't running right. whoever did your swapped rip'd you off. i'd go after them.

I know that I don't have vtec and it isnt running right, I was just wondering if swapping the ECU will fix this problem, and if not what else do I need to do?

I bought with the motor in it, have no idea who did the swap.

Yes get a OBDI P13 and run the VTEC wires to the right pins and you're good to go.

That low cam must sound terrible at 6000rpms hehe
