Default Problem with new shift ****.

First off I wanna say that I would put this in the appearance forum if the site would let me. I guess I'm gonna be a trial user for...... well who knows.

Anyway, I ordered a new Sparco Fast-R shift **** and it came in today. So I was pretty stoked to get home and install it. I got home and saw how I'm supposed to install this **** and lets just say I'm pretty damn upset. The shifter lever is alot smaller in diameter than the shift **** is. You put this little cap on top of your shift lever and use these little pointed alan screws to secure the cap onto the lever. Then you take the shift **** and screw it on-top of the little cap.

Granted this is a Sparco **** and Sparco is supposed to be a wonderful company. But this **** just makes me uncomfortable. I've got the thing on there securely and it doesn't have any play. But my concern is that after using it for a few months I'm gonna be going through the gears and boom! It pops off while driving and strips my shift lever's factory threads.

Is this common with aftermarket *****? Does Razo or Skunk2 retrofit their *****?

if you install it properly it wont come off, lots of aftermarket ***** are not vehicle specific, hence why they dont screw on to your tsock threads.

for example i think almost all of the momo ones attach with allen screws too.

momo and sparco ***** are all this way, i ended up using rubber grommets that are the same OD as the diameter of the **** hole, and have an ID that is the same size as the shift lever. this makes the fit nice and snug, and i've never had an issue w/ the **** coming off (i've used a momo and a sparco.)

you wanna feel better about it? no problem. Just go to a hardware store, find a nut the same size as the threads on the shifter, and permanently affix it to the inside of the shift ****--I'll leave that to your own devices. I don't want to take all the fun out of it...

this'll pretty much guarantee that **** ain't comin' off...

Order this one and it just screws on nice and snug--https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1309365

I'm very happy with mine, it's heavy and feels great.

is that shiftknob looks to be in a 5th gen...do they have the same threading as a 4th gen so itll fit right onto a 4th gen shifter also?

rawNAprelude, are you asking if my **** is for a 5th gen or are you refering to Hawkze_2.3's post with that picture? If so, then no, that's not a 5th gen lude.
