Default possible engine temperature problem?

Hello,

for as long as i own my 89 prelude si (10 years) my temperature guage always indicated a constant reading regardless of the season or highway/stop and go traffic.now for the past week i've notice the needle would climb about 4/5 hot until the fan kicks on and back down half (middle) indication.this cycle then repeats. is this a possible future temperature problem?

thanks again

It could be....check your coolant for oil and vise-versa, you may be developing a slight gasket leak somewhere. Maybe even flush the cooling system and bleed the air out.

It could be a faulty thermostat...
