Default overheating problems

hey guys I've recently just brought a 93 prelude and I'm having problems with it overheating.

I've replaced the thermostat. the fans work fine it hasn't gone into the red yet but when I stop my car the overflow is bubbling and the hose which goes into the overflow has hot air coming out of it.

can any1 help me with this ?

If you replaced the thermostat, you probably have air in the system, and need to bleed it well. If you do a search there are a bunch of threads on bleeding coolant, specific to Preludes even.

If you still have issues, check to make sure the rad flows well, and the water pump is in good shape.

Thx for your help
I've just tried to bleed it but I couldn't get a steady flow out of the bleeding nipple
the hose which flows from the bottom of the radiator up into the engine goes from hot to cold, should it be a constant temperature ?
also where abouts is the water pump located?

If you don't get a consistent flow from the bleeder nipple, keep adding fuild and bleeding it until you do. Once you get good flow, let it warm up to operating temp and run long enough to cycle the fans twice, then shut it off and let it cool, and check to make sure you have a good level in the rad and overflow after that.

Oh and make sure your rad cap is sealing well, cheap part to replace and make sure the car runs at the right temp.

If you open up the radiator cap while the car is cold and coolant shoots out of it you could have a leaking head gasket.

You might wanna try running a new ground to the valve cover. Hope this helps.

Compression test... then make sure its not running lean... (weak fuel pressure)

thx
i have bleed it again
it isn't loosing any coolant radiator is always full.
car doesn't show that its over heating but is a lot of hot air been blowing into the overflow. which sounds like boiling water.
the fans only turn on when i turn the a/c onto full heat flat out.
what tells the fans to turn on when the a/c isn't on??
