Need H23 Vtec Build question!!! Has anybody done this before?
I have an LA Sleeved h23 block that is 88.5mm in bore. I also have a set of high compression wiseco pistons (88.5mm) with lunati H23 Rods (5.572 Length). Basically my question is can i use an h22 crank to build this motor because the H23 Crank i have is chewed up. Id like to be able to spin it a little higher than 7500 rpms...Im hoping the shorter stroke of the h22 crank and the shorter h23 rods will help me accomplish that without losing too much quench in the combustion chamber. the pistons with an h23 head and rotating assembly were rated at 12.9:1 so i have some compression to spare. Im not sure what the combustion chamber differences are between my old h23 head and my new h22 head.
I figured id ask before i put this thing together

I have no clue what that guy is talking about. I have a younger brother thats been in the honda game forever. I have a couple of 9 sec ls1's but i wanted a nice daily instead of my 3500 4x4 diesel truck. So I just recently bought an EG Coupe DX that I am piecing together a swap for. I have Everything i need im just trying to figure out the best way of going about it....Seems like that 98 vtec guy has a Chip on his shoulder. I thought I was asking a ligitamite question. I mean...what else are forums for!!! People Helping people right!?!?! So i guess im am the evil brother of HondaS2000 LOL...Whatever that means

Re: (1SIKZ06)
what exactly are you asking? if you want to run a 90mm h22 crank w/ h23 rods/pistons you will loss a good bit of compression. i would find another h23 crank or if you want to do it the right way and have a better r/s ratio use h22 rods w/ custom cp pistons or brand of your choice make sure to measure deck height before ordering the pistons though.

Re: (NAH2B)
I was just making sure it would work fine and wouldnt make the compression rediculously low or anything. And i was hoping it would help with my rod stroke ratio to rev it high since the stroke is shorter and the rods are shorter

Re: (1SIKZ06)
These questions boil down to grade school math. The rod stroke ratio is a ratio, between the rod length and the stroke. The compression ratio is a ratio between the original and final volume of the compression stroke. There are a lot of threads covering this, I'd suggest starting in the FAQ and searching if you need to get specific numbers to do your calculations.
Or just put it together.

Re: (flyrod)
You are dropping the compression ratio substantially running the h22 crank. Close to 9:1. Dropping 5mm stroke and increasing total volume. I would recommend finding an f22 or h23 crank and have everthing balanced.
