Knock Sensor problems...again

I had a problem with the knock sensor before, I ended up needing my timing belt redone, after that the car seemed to run well then I got another CEL. Surprise! Code 23! The car seemed to still be running well before the code, but now (about 50 miles) later its backfiring, and I get the knock sensor code before the car is even fully warmed up. I have a brand new knock sensor, timing belt job, just set ignition timing, did the spark plugs yesterday...What else should I check? One thing that I did notice is on the back of the intake manifold, all the way on the right, that tube is capped. Where is that supposed to go? If that doesn't describe the location good enough I'll take a picture. I'm also wondering if my TPS is off by any chance. When I first got the car the tps was literally hand tightened and the car was idling at like 3k because the tps would move around, I just tightened it by feel, I didn't check the voltage or anything because I was out of state and just needed to get the car home. Could the tps being a little off **** the knock sensor off? The car is idling a little high now that I think about it... What else can I check before I end up taking the car to a mechanic to see what the deal is? Thanks

the "tube" you are talking about, is it a small vacuum line or a big metal tube? either way it shouldn't be part of your knock sensor problem, but just curious. if it's a grey vacuum line, it is probably the line that went to the butterfly valve in the intake chamber that was down in the passenger fenderwell; if you have a sri or cai, it does not exist anymore and so the line was capped.

I tried rewiring it, using the the same wire that was in the ecu and in the knock sensor, and cutting it 4-5 inches after, to see if it was a pinched wire somewhere during the swap (I just swapped in a h22a, had a h23) Are you saying run a wire from the harness right into the sensor, like a complete wire? How would I go about accessing the wire in the harness to replace? I'll try that before I get a replacement for the sensor. Now for the "tube" its a vacuum line, but its not on the intake side, its all the way on the other side, near the top, facing the firewall.
