My check engine light came on about a month ago and it was throwin a code 23 *knock sensor* so i got under my car and checked it and all the wiring and everything was good, so i figured the knock sensor had just gone bad. i went out and bought a new knock sensor and i'm still throwin code 23.

also, i was searching and read that if the CEL comes on for knock sensor, that vtec isn't supposed to cut on, but it cuts on fine. There is no differentce in the way it drives at all when the light comes on.

Any ideas?


BTW: possibly selling car on friday and would like to have it fiured out by then

check your timing... you are probably pinging really bad too. (?).

 

it will retard your timing so vtec might go on, but it will not pull as hard as it should. Check the wires going to the ecu and if you are sure all the wire and the knock sensor are ok, try to see if you can borrow someones ecu and see if that changes anything.
