check the idle sensor

first remove the socket from it then see if the car is still the same if the car went good so its the problem

clean it or replace it

just changed the map sensor with a working one. now its acting worse. when i step on the gas it sputters like its going to die then raises idle. took for a drive very poor drivability.

whenever you checked the tps did you do a sweep and check for an open or a glitch? also ive had tps spec out fine and be smooth, but when under load the voltage will glitch......just an idea

Have you done a simple spark test?

Remove a plug at a time, place it in the wire, and rest it on the valve cover (as a ground) and crank the engine over to see if it sparks.

If you have spark in all 4, then you have a fuel problem.

When the car is idling, pull each wire off one at a time, and see if the idle changes for any of the cylinders. It should drop for each one. If it stays the same on a cylinder, then that one is dead.

You can then switch the injectors around, and see which one is not working. Process of elimination.

I am betting its an injector!

yeah i measured the resitance of the injectors all 4 were at 2.5 ohms within spec according to the helms.

I have a similar problem, mine only happens within the first couple minutes of driving. Is yours the same in that regard? Or can it happen after driving for a quite a while? I kind of have feeling its the fuel pump....I've just been too lazy to figure it out.

Just because there is res. doesn't nec. mean that they are working right.

Have you at least done a cylinder test to make sure that it is not firing right on all cylinders, and not just one??

It's easy to do, just pull the wire off of a plug whilst it's idling. Lie before, if it dips that cylinder is fine, if not that one is dead.

does this happen while the engine is cold only or even after its been running awhile? whatever it is, you should diagnose before you swap old, still good parts for brand new parts..itll make a lasting impression on your wallet

i did the pulla plug test when i 1st had the problem and again after you mentioned it all made the idle drop on all 4 so that checked out. and the problem is there cold or warm. i am noticing since i changed the map sensor i can smell light fuel at the muffler so its not being burnt.

I would try another TPS and set the voltage corrrectly for close and open, then verify sweeping voltage as well.

and the verdict is in (i hope) Things that were fixed: New thermostat sensor, adjusted idle was out of spec, and a new tps fixed the issue.

I bought my tps that went bad from kteller 6 months ago....still no reply from them. I dont know anywhere else i can buy a tps omni doesnt sell 1 for our cars. Im using my old oem one now but i need a gaket any one know where i can mabye just find a gasket? Hate to have to order another tps from kteller knowing that it lasted 6 months.

now to get a new rear wheel bearing...

You can use that gasket maker stuff you pick up at autozone. I use that stuff when my old gaskets begin to flake off.
