Jerky Throttle
2 days ago i noticed when i was decelerating or at partial throttle the car would jerk back and forth. Nothing like if the rpms were to low. It almost seemed like if the connection from battery was being unhooked and reconnected in a split second. cleaned the terminals thinking that but didnt fix it. Now this only does it when im coming off the throttle and tap the gas a little. Then yesterday I was driving down the road and the car just shut off pulled off the road and it started right up. anyone have any ideas?
replaced the main relay like 2 months ago doubt its that. It drove fine to work the other day had a huge downpoor then this started. Not throwing any cels. initially thought water in distributor, but it doesnt appear so. any other ideas?
still having problem getting worse. checked tps voltage getting a couple different readings. .37 - .45 depending on where i test at close been like that since i put the tps on and havnt had problems until now.
the car has started doing this miss-firing/hesitating/jerking in between shifts and at light throttle taps on or off gas. I was thinking it was miss-firing so i tested the cables there good, replaced plugs didnt fix. tested the coil within spec. still no check engine. looked in the helms cudnt find any tests to do on the distributor except the icm inside, but that will throw a code happened to my last distributor. any help or advice is greatly appreciated I dont want to start buying random parts to fix this and i fear i cant take it to a shop because im not sure if my friend and i lined up the flywheel marks when we did the clutch. so checking timing might be a bit difficult. tia

hmm never thought to check that. time for more researching.
tps is at .45-.47 closed and 4.5-4.6 open so im narrowing that out. dont have a timing light but distributor timing was on last time i checked. I dont wanna dish out money for a new distributor if its not the problem.

wouldn't the distributor throw a code tho. I changed rotor and coil last night havnt driven it yet we will c today changed plugs week ago. wires tested good. I dont wanna buy random parts but im running out of ideas. any help would be greatly appreciated.
well do you have access to a decent scan tool? anyway, plug it up, drive around and look for any weird sensor readings. look for sensors dropping out, really low reading or really high readings...or one that doesnt change at all. its easier to have a passenger do this if the scan tool doesnt have a freeze frame function. its too bad your check engine light isnt on.
well rotor/coil didnt fix it. dont have anyone who has a scanner like that. I wish it was throwing a code so i could know what to fix. this is agrevating me. any other ideas on what to check?

i had an issue similar to yours and it was a bad walhoro fuel pump... so i replaced it with a new one and solved the problem...

yeah i might look into that. Im going to change my oil today and put my stock ecu back in and see if it picks any codes up or see how it acts with that one just to narrow things down more. Prolly go price a pump today.
idle is right around 750.

IM/H/E p28 on crome hesitation/misfire is only at low throttle when I am on or off the accelerator. WOT or cruising speed is fine as long as i dont touch the pedal.
Things ive done since problem. (relevant or not)
Changed plugs, coil, rotor, tested tps, plug wires, changed fuel filter, ect and ect sending unit. Got alignment, changed oil. emptied catch can. unplugged o2 and drove, changed air filter. Believe thats it

please dont go throwing more parts at this. thats not how you diagnose a problem. if you're just gonna throw your money away putting new parts on you probably dont need, just take it somewhere and spend the same for them to find the problem for real.
changed ecu. still no codes besides the egr i removed. felt sluggish around 4k rpms, but cant remember if it was like that before. didnt hesitate/missifre at 1st but right before i got home felt it jerk like other ecu a little when i got on and off the pedal...but have only driven about 3 miles with it.
ok well i put the p28 back in last night after driving on the oem. night and day difference. it jerked like crazy which makes me think its the ecu, but any one know what could have caused that? the tune was done last november and havnt had any problems until now. or could it just be a problem the p28 is exposing that the p13 isnt?
problem is getting significantly worse. both ecus are now acting almost unbarable to drive. car is jerking alot and dies often when starting to move in 1st. changed out the fuel pump and the fuel pressure reg. no change. any more ideas? im waiting on a honda mechanic to call me to check it outside the shop because they want 99 bucks and hour to look around. any other ideas on what to try?
my guess was fuel or ignition related b/c it acts worse when the p28 is hooked up. looking for any help thx

I would check the ignition. I've had the same problem on and off with my 89 and now I'm having more problems with the ignition so I'm hoping that fixes the problem we share too.
Good luck man.
