Ignition problem
Hi I have a 97 sh prelude I am having an issue with starting my car I will put the key in an turn it to run an the dash lights come on then go to normal then when I turn the key to start the car I hear the fuel pump turn on but the car won't start I have called Honda about a possible recall an they said there is but mine has already had it's recall done is there anyone who know the problem im having after about 5 mins of turning the key the car will turn on I have a parts prelude so if anyone knows what the problem is an I'll just swap it out
It wont turn over I think there is a short in a wire or something cause everything turns on but when I turn the key to start the fuel pump comes on but the car doesn't turn over or click or anything but If I leave the key in run after that for like 5 mins the try again the car will start sometimes
did they ask you the vin number of your car when you ask the dealer for recall? I'm just curious.. maybe your starter is going bad or battery doesn't give enough power check those two if not then check your main relay
your starter battery may not have enough juice to start the car... try turning it on as if you were jumping the car with another... if it turns on like a champ it may obviously be your battery...
HI i am having a problem of my own and since i cant open my own thread i am gonna post it here.
I recently rebuilt my engine and put on a new ehaust system headers and cat back, since having them welded up i have been having some electrical problems, it seems i am burning out my crank position sensor (the black boxes inside the distributor) and now have been thru 5 dizzys, can someone please give some comment/help as to what might be the problem.

I agree with the others. Check your battery, then your alternator. I've had a car light up, but not turn over with a weak battery. It happened to my dad's cb7 and my old bb1.
If the battery and alternator check out, and the ignition switch recall has been completed, I would look into the immobilizer next. It is a passive system which uses a chipped key. Read your manual if you have one on how the immobilizer light should behave. If you don't have a manual, I'll quote what my manual says about it; I have a 98 SH, so I have a near twin to your car.
