H22A4 Turbo Build

H22A4 Turbo Build
So I've decided to turbo my car. I'm starting first by prepping the block to handle the power. I'm upgrading to forged CP pistons and forged Eagle rods. Installing ACL Race Series Performance bearings. ARP head stud kit. Cometic Head Gasket 0.030" thick.
My concern now is my top end?
I think I've got the basics covered and should now look to my top end?
Right now I am looking at a Brian Crower Stage 2 Turbo Kit. This includes cams, valves, springs and retainers. The kit recommends that I install a fuel pressure regulator, VTEC controller, Aftermarket ECU and upgrade my fuel injectors. On top of all those things will my cam pulleys now have to be upgraded to adjustable pulleys?
I appreciate all the help I can get. Turbocharging is uncharted territory for me and I don't have anyone to ask locally.

Re: H22A4 Turbo Build
From a little research CP pistons require sleeving. SO I have cancelled them and the rods and instead I am purchasing Mahle Gold Series Pistons and Brian Crower Rods 87mm 9.0:1
Is there an engine management system anyone could recommend? The stock Injectors from what I understand are 280cc. For a system that I'm running what would I be looking to upgrade to? Stock without the turbo the 280cc injectors should be fine right?

I wouldn't bother with changing out your cams, vlaves, springs etc. just yet. Do you have a budget or power goal in mind? As far as engine management I am a fan of hondata products, the s300 is a nice system. Get a set of 1000cc injectors as this will give you room to grow in the future.

Yes, hondata is a cheap alternative, cheap eign the key word.
The sereis2 is great as it is fullstandalone tuning solution. This means that is has far more options for tuning and far less restriction. It is also immobilizer compliant.

Re: H22A4 Turbo Build
what are you power goals? and plans with the car? I don't see him needing a AEM Series 2 for a street car when you can make plan power of a Hondata, hell even some drag guys are using the S300. And if you're tearing it down to change the pistons...i woulda just sleeved the block, it's like an almost must for the H. But again i don't know what your goals are what power you plan or wanna make? what psi you plan on boosting? what's the car's platform gonna be street, drag, road, autocross? etc. etc.

You don't need the AEM setup, a lot of guys end up switching to Hondata. I am making over 700whp on the Hondata S300 and I also know a couple guys making over 1000whp on Hondata S300 who have ran 8.9's with it.
Just saying nothing wrong with the Hondata...

I've been shopping for a complete turbo kit. This is the most complete one I can find to get me started. I can always upgrade the individual pieces later.

Either that one or this one. I'm leaning towards this one.

NEITHER! stayyyyy away from Ebay. If you're serious about turbo'ing your car you need to lean toward a real turbo kit. Sounds like you're not headed in the wrong direction...you still haven't gave us a goal or what you're doing, but stay away from Ebay unless you don't want reliability.

The only kit I would buy OP is just the intake piping with maybe a inter-cooler. Everything else it would be worth it just buying it all separate. The cheap turbos on Ebay blow like hand grenades no joke...

Re: H22A4 Turbo Build
it's almost impossible to help someone when they mention they are going to get an ebay turbo kit. Once they see the price of a quality good turbo kit with good parts, they say, "**** it, it can't be that much worse" and get the ebay kit.
