i have a 95 honda civic with a 92 h22a1 swap done and the car was done correctly and it was fine for 2 years and one day i was driving and pulled into school and shut it off got back out and started it up and now i redline at 6500 rpm in 1st and 2nd gear and it always redlined at 7200 rpm and plus i have no speed governor and no vtec plus my idle is funny it idles up in down in neutral would anyone have any idea what my engine is doing thanks!
are you positive that your check engine light works? Does it go on when you turn you ignition on.
Your ecu is not in complete limp mode.
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak because of the searching idle. Its possible that something physically broke like the map sensor.
Possibly get a second ecu and test it out.

Limp mode cuts the fuel at about 4500 rpm and idles rock solid at 1200 rpm, you're not in limp mode. Trying to push the car to VTEC before the engine is warm will cut the redline to 6500 rpm and no VTEC... was the engine warm enough? I'd suggest getting a Helm's manual for a 95 Prelude if you really want to troubleshoot it yourself.
I am sorry It is true you are not in limp mode. vtec is not engaging and it is limiting you to 6500.
It could be you didnt let the car warm up, or you don't have oil pressure. So check your oil. Also you vss has to work for vtec to engage.
