Default Fmax Downpipe

I posted this in the FI section, but I also wanted to put it right at the source. Here is the thread:

Let me know what's up, I really do need any answer today, I am dropping the stuff off at the shop to get the work done, and sending it to get coated.

That link just tries to post a new message.

As for your question... You're getting a dump tube made up? It's a little difficult since the wastegate dump flange comes so close to the downpipe. Running the wastegate exhaust flange open without a dump tube gets really messy in the engine compartment.

I don't see any problem just welding up the wastegate slip joint on the downpipe.

glad to see your gonna use a different manifold for your f-max kit. i had a friend use the f-max one and it was distributing boost unevenly in the cylinders and blowing rings and injectors ect., it was a pain

Am I missing something? Where does he say he's going to a different manifold? And I assume intake manifold since you're talking about uneven boost and injectors.

i'm talkin about the exhaust manifold before the turbine, if your just replacing the downpipe below the turbine you might want to look into it.

the fmax kit boost unevenly in cylinders

He didn't say he was replacing the downpipe, he just said he was running open loop, meaning getting rid of the wastegate dumptube that feeds into the downpipe.

How do you figure the exhaust manifold has anything to with the amount of boost being run to individual cylinders? The log manifold design is not the most effecient, but many people use them and they're fairly common.

I am using the Fmax Manifold and I already have the dump tube, it just points at the block. I don't know if that matters or not. The second thing was getting the closed loop system cut off the downpipe and having it welded closed. I don't think the exhaust manifold will have anything to do with the engine running rich or lean. That is all up to tuning.

I don't think the dump tube pointing at the block really matters all that much. I had an exhaust leak at that point for a while and all I got was a really dirty engine. It would be nice if it went down farther, though.

How much are the F-Max kit and where can one find the kit? Also, squirrelmasta, if the F-Max Kit doesn't boost evenly what other manifold can be used that is better than the F-Max ones? And can't you just attach a longer tube to the loop tube if you're going to go open loop so it goes farther down the engine bay and doesn't get it all dirty? thanks for any info

i'm not sure which wastegate he was usin but i'm pretty sure it was the original one that cam with the kit. i'm gonna see him soon so i will ask about the problems he was having, if you want me to ask him anything else i will. the kit he had was selling for arround 7500 new but he got it from a sponsorship deal that another friend had, long story. About a new manifold theres a guy in vancouver that makes really good ones and i know alot of people running them, if you want his number i'll give it to you, you should call him.
