Default ram horn question

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...item5ad5b44fbd

look at the pictures in the above link. now, im not thinking of buying this, as its cheaply made and not the correct flange, BUT it shows you what i need you to see. notice there's what appears to be like a downpipe flange or something on the front of the manifold. why is this? i obviously haven't looked much at ram horns before, is this common? explain what the hell this is and how it works

All that is in the front is the wastegate flange, yes its common on ram horn mani but some wastegates use differant flanges
hope this helps

i realize how dumb that question sounded. so do they make ramhorns for an internal wastegate, or would this just be a waste, and not necessary for a turbo running an internal wastegate (usually lower boost)

or has anyone ever just blocked off this wastegate port and used it with an internally wastegated turbo

You can use the manifold with a turbo that has an internal waste gate by using a block off plate. There's not too much reason to.

And those manifolds aren't that bad. Rick Rabies had one and it held up fine at like 10lbs boost, it spooled the turbo quick. It's certainly not the best, but it's not complete garbage either.

thinkin of goin with a bigger turbo still internally wastegated i assume, (16g mitsu turbo)

and about 18 psi. after rods and pistons are in

You'd probably make more power on a T3/T4 with lower boost. An externally waste gated turbo will perform better, internal is just cheaper to do.
