Default engine swap

I did do a search first, but didn't find anything specific on it. I have a 98 sh, if i were to swap an '00-'01 base automatic into my car would I run into any problems? I know there are few adapters that are needed, but would I lose my ATTS? My car burns oil and I might be able to get the engine for cheap. Thanks in advance.

Everything should bolt up, but then again, i own a 4th gen, I don't think you would lose the atts....

I f you have atts, just swap the motor only, keep your trans unless there is an issue with it.

Ummm, In order to keep your ATTS you have to keep your old block and old tranny. If you look behind your motor you will see the atts unit bolted up to your block. SH= alot of dif stuff then base and auto.

If you want to keep the atts you are going to need to keep an sh block. No questions about it.

You can not put an sh tranny and atts on a nonSH block. The oil filter is in the way and there arn't bolt holes to mount the atts to.

And again your information is wrong. You need to learn some things before you start posting wrong information.

My car burns oil (5 qts to 1000 mile) and my oil pump is bad I know that, so my head is already messed up. Can I just swap stuff out from the auto engine? Any suggestions? Should I hone and bore and put in OS Type S pistons? Any help would be appreciated I just wanna be able to drive my car without any problems for once.

The oil pump could possibly be bad becuase of the aftermarket crank pully. So I would not put that back on.

I would wonder what else is messed up in the engine. if the oil pump went bad. Do you have any rod knocks or anything. How is the head messed up.

If you are actually thinking about replacing everything look into a jdm type s engine with atts. I have seen them go as low as 3000 shipped. But they are rare.

Well there is a rattling all the time, it is pretty loud at idle. When I accelerate I still seem to hear it, but not too sure where it is coming from?

That could possibly be a rod knock. I would stop driving it if it is a rod knock.

Like I said before easiest is to just replace it with an sh block or a type s block that uses the atts. Both are somewhat hard to find and sometimes pricey.

If you are planning on rebuilding your stock block you need to make sure you didn't mess up the crank if you have a rod knock. Thats why I would advise you to stop driving it.

I dealt with this problem before with someone with an sh.
