Default Engine buliding or engine swaps?

all right ok heres my story. I just run into a decient amount of cash that i can spend or blow you know what i mean. I decided to blow it on my baby (92 si non vtec)and that is my car not no kid so i was thinking of getting a racing head package by Gude racing (comes with Ported and polished - high compression cylinder head, racing valve grind, ported intake manifold, high velocity throttle body, matched ECU, and cams.) and some high compression pistons (at or around 10.5:1) with some forged rods. Now the h23 engine has 113k miles on it and i wanted to refresh it with new seals and bearings and bolts (ARP bolts). basically a complete rebuild with new hardware but if stock valve train was good it would be kept. When the price is estimatated it comes to a good deal of money.

Then from that my dad said i might as well just buy a jdm h22 vtec motor with an lsd tranny. This motor i believe has 200hp nad 161 ft\lbs of torque which is a great deal more than i have now but not as much as the h23 with the build listed above.

Ok well im starting to sway to the jdm h22 vtec but was wondering if anyone has any input on what might be better (not necessarly faster) and if the swap has any complications to it. I hear that the only problem i should have is with the rpm and speed capabilities of the engine compared to the factory si gauges. is this true. please help me decide cause my money if not spent soon is gonna have to be spent else where and that i dont want to happen.

you would have to sleeve your block to run aftermarket pistons...and 10.5:1 is hardly high compression.

swap an H22...more potential.

Go with the H22. Great way to start out with more power and I don't think you will regret it.

It seems like many more people have regretted modding their H23's than the people who mod their H22's.

Also, do a search on here on GUDE and all you'll find is complaints about their shitty service and product.....

I say either turbo your H23 or swap in an H22....

Glad yours worked out, but I've read 7 or 8 negative experiences with Gude..mainly people getting broken product or having their core charge delayed or not even returned.....
