Default ebay shift *****...

I found this type-r ebay shift **** thats supposed to fit a 92 prelude (any probably all hondas)

Anyways, I'm stuck. The **** doesn't screw on of course, it has 3 holes around it that look like threaded screws go in them to hold it to the shifter. But theres other parts like washers or spacers and a nut maybe.

Anyone know a simple way to get this stupid thing on?

You need three small set screws to put into those holes on the ****, tighten them once you put it on the shifter.

Or you could glue it on.

Don't buy TYPE-R **** FROM EBAY!.......

i didnt buy this crap, someone just left it in my garage.....maybe? LOL

anyways, i think there was a nut as well that was threaded for my shifter. maybe....

-screw the nut on the shifter,
-put the **** over the nut,
-then screw the 3 screws threw the **** into the nut, instead of screwing them into the threaded shifter?

makes perfect sense, except they threw in washers or spacers, and all this other **** that jsut boggled my mind.

I bought my prelude with a shift **** that i think is the stock ****, except has a medeal peice around the lower end?

anyways, its peeling up and i've sliced all my fingers now while driving and theres blood all over.

so ....ebay type-r ftw.

I think you're refering to the "universal" style shift ***** that actually have different sizes of plastic sleeves to fit on various brands of cars. The sleeve is supposed to slip over the threads on the lever and then you tighten the three screws from the **** into the sleeve.

I had a shift **** like that a few years ago, it wouldn't screw onto the shift lever tight enough and it would twist more and more aftering using it. I replaced it with one similar to the Skunk2 weighted and haven't had any problems.

yea. but the lude is for sale, just trying to get it semi-straightened up before smoeone buys it and sees that shifting currently cuts their hands open.

Well, if someone "left" it in your garage, it might not be intended for your Car.. Honda's have a 1.5 Thread pitch for theirs Shift *****.. The one you have could be different and that's why it doesn't work..

I guess if you dont have what you need to install that ****, just go down to a junkyard and pick one up from another honda... it'll probably work better than what you have anyway.
