Default clutch problem

ok..driving to work today right, came to a stop sign and went to go to gear and it started stalling out. I had to ease the clutch while pressing the gas to go. once i was rolling, tried to go to second, but it would start to die out. Once I made it to work, tried going in to reverse but it wouldnt. I went to the resting place smoothly, but no reverse action. im pretty sure its stuck in first because when the car is off, it goes in every gear except first. new clutch or somehting else? there was no grinding or anything. only thing that was off was when i would be on highway going into 5th, the gear would dissengage like there is to much pressure when i step on the gas.

Could it be the slave or master cylinder?

When the car is on, it wont go into any gear, but its stuck in first because when i ease off the clutch and press pedal it lurches forward. when its off it goes into every gear except first.

I tried starting it up just then and see if i could force it, but nothing. if the clutch is in neutral, it jerks forward once i let off the clutch. it goes into third now, but it stalls out. now if the car is off, it wont go into anything but reverse. but with it on, it wont. is that a sign for a new clutch?

Yeah sounds like a busted clutch, probably blew at least one spring out of the disc.

I'm not a tranny expert, but that sounds more like a transmission problem than a clutch issue. If your clutch went out, I would expect it to behave the same trying to get into or out of every gear, not particular ones like you're experiencing. Could be a shift fork or something along those lines.

I actually drove it home yesterday after i figured out it was f*ed up. Its stuck in 4th! I tried shifting, but nothing. It would like slow down if i tried to put it in another gear. Its in neutral, but its in 4th because thats the only gear i can go in. I have a S20 tranny, but not sure it will fit the f22a1. what tranny types wil fit a f22a1?
